Do employees have to participate? +
Walnut EQ is a push benefit — employees are enrolled by their company and begin receiving messages automatically, just like other employer-provided benefits. Employees can opt out at any time by replying STOP to any message. No action is required to participate.
What data does Walnut EQ collect? +
We collect voluntary survey responses and SMS engagement data. We never collect medical records, clinical data, or protected health information. Your organization's admin controls and governs all employee data on the platform.
Do employees need to download an app? +
No app required. Wellness content is delivered via SMS — the channel with the highest open rates of any digital medium. Employees receive messages in their native messages app with zero setup.
How is this different from our EAP? +

Your organization retains ownership of all its data. Walnut EQ is the platform host — your company admin governs, controls, and maintains all employee data according to your own policies. Survey responses collected through the platform are owned by Walnut EQ and used solely to generate the aggregated insights in your employer dashboard. This data is always held in strict confidence — it is never sold, licensed, or shared with any third party for any purpose.
